USELESS
Immersive and interactive performance created and performed by Marisol Spensieri
In a world where autonomy becomes a privilege and where robotic productivity is at the zenith of its powers – who holds the playing cards? Who makes the next move? You decide.
Told through movement, interactive technology and spoken word, USELESS interrogates society’s obsession with productivity and lays bare the human sacrifice made at the altar of capitalism. The countdown is on, but whose time are we on?
USELESS audiences receive text messages live, with instructions and questions.
I can work harder
I can do longer days
I don't need breaks
I can––
After two years of development supported by Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Arts Council England, CASA Festival and NDT Broadgate, USELESS premiered at Brixton House's Housemates Festival in July 2023 with great audience response and public acclaim.
